Firefly has extended the cancellation of scheduled flights between Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang and Singapore’s Seletar Airport until 14 October, citing haze and adverse weather conditions affecting the route.
The Malaysian airline announced the extension on Monday, following an initial suspension covering 10 to 12 October.
Six Daily Return Flights Affected
The cancellations affect six daily return flights, comprising 12 scheduled flight sectors, operating under flight numbers FY3122 to FY3133.
The Subang–Seletar service offers travellers an alternative to flying through Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Singapore Changi Airport. Its suspension requires affected passengers to consider different departure and arrival points if they wish to continue their journey.
Alternative Travel Arrangements
Firefly said affected passengers were being contacted and offered available Malaysia Airlines flights between Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Singapore Changi Airport.
Rebooking is subject to seat availability.
Passengers declining the alternative arrangement are eligible for a full refund to their original payment method within 30 working days.
Singapore Reports Unhealthy Air Quality
Singapore’s National Environment Agency (NEA) reported that the country’s 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index remained within the unhealthy range on Monday.
At 7pm, readings ranged from 118 to 155. The central and western regions recorded 155, followed by 139 in the east, 122 in the south and 118 in the north.
Aviation Safety Considerations
Haze can affect aircraft operations when visibility falls below the minimum requirements for take-off or landing.
Pilots and air traffic controllers follow established procedures based on prevailing meteorological conditions, aircraft capabilities and airport operating requirements.
Air-quality readings alone do not determine whether aircraft can operate. Visibility measurements and the applicable aviation safety limits are assessed separately.
Airline Advisory
Firefly said passengers would receive updates concerning their travel arrangements through its official communication channels.
The airline’s announcement applies to the affected Subang–Seletar services and does not constitute a suspension of all flights between Malaysia and Singapore.
