PT TransNusa Aviation Mandiri has announced the launch of additional scheduled services on its Jakarta to Singapore and Bali to Singapore routes, becoming the first Indonesian airline to secure new flight frequency allocations from Singapore Changi Airport this year.
TransNusa Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Bernard Francis confirmed that the additional Jakarta to Singapore service will commence on 17 April, while the new Bali to Singapore frequency is set to begin operations on 2 May. Tickets for both routes went on sale from 17 March via the airline’s website and major online travel agency platforms.
The frequency increases are driven by sustained demand for air travel between Indonesia and Singapore, two markets with deep economic, cultural and tourism ties. The Jakarta to Singapore corridor remains one of the busiest international routes in the region, serving millions of passengers annually.
New Service Details
On the Jakarta to Singapore sector, the new service (flight 8B 155) will depart Soekarno Hatta International Airport at 7.45pm and arrive at Changi Airport at 10.25pm. The return leg (flight 8B 156) departs Changi at 11.20pm, arriving back in Jakarta at 12.10am. With this addition, TransNusa will operate three daily frequencies on the Jakarta to Singapore route effective 17 April 2026.
For the Bali to Singapore route, the new outbound service (flight 8B 553) will depart Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport at 10.20am and arrive at Changi Airport at 1.15pm. The return service (flight 8B 554) departs Changi at 2.15pm, landing in Bali at 5.55pm. Both routes will be operated using Airbus A320 aircraft.
Enhanced Product Offering
TransNusa has configured its A320 fleet with 174 seats, offering approximately 30 inches of legroom, a pitch comparable to full service carriers in the region. For its international services, the airline offers three fare bundles: SEAT, SEAT PLUS and FLEXI PRO.
Under the base SEAT bundle, passengers now receive a 20kg checked baggage allowance in addition to the standard 7kg cabin baggage. The top tier FLEXI PRO bundle includes 30kg checked baggage, complimentary seat selection, meals and beverages, priority boarding, and the flexibility to change flights without restrictions or to obtain a refund.
Airline Background
Originally established in 2005 as a regional carrier serving eastern Indonesia, TransNusa suspended operations in 2020 due to the pandemic before relaunching in October 2022 with Airbus A320 narrowbody equipment. Following a change in ownership and a rebrand in February 2024, the airline repositioned itself as what it describes as a Premium Service Carrier, a business model it claims to be the first of its kind in the Asia Pacific region.
TransNusa currently operates from dual bases in Jakarta and Bali. Its international network spans Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Perth, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Shenzhen, making it the second Indonesian carrier to serve the Chinese market. The airline has grown rapidly since its 2022 relaunch and continues to pursue frequency and network expansion across Southeast Asia and beyond.
