Lifedot Medevac has launched a Critical Care Medevac Training programme in Malaysia, aimed at strengthening operational capability in medical evacuation and cross-border patient transfer across the ASEAN region.
The introduction of this training reflects increasing demand for structured understanding in air ambulance operations, particularly as patient movement between countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia continues to grow. While hospitals remain central to clinical treatment, the safe transfer of critically ill patients requires a combination of clinical judgment, aviation awareness, and operational execution.
The Critical Care Medevac Training programme is designed to address this gap by focusing on the realities of medical evacuation (medevac) operations. Participants are introduced to key considerations including fit-to-fly assessment, in-flight medical risks, aircraft configuration, and end-to-end patient transfer workflow from the originating hospital to the receiving facility.
Unlike conventional healthcare training, which is typically conducted within controlled clinical environments, this programme emphasises patient care in transit, where conditions are dynamic and operational constraints must be carefully managed. This includes working within aircraft limitations, ensuring patient stability during flight, and aligning transfer timing with receiving hospital readiness.
The training is open to a wide range of professionals involved in patient transfer and medical evacuation, including emergency physicians, ICU teams, hospital administrators, case managers, and medical assistance providers. By bringing together both clinical and operational stakeholders, the programme aims to improve coordination and decision-making in high-risk transfer scenarios.
As healthcare systems across ASEAN become increasingly interconnected, medical evacuation capability is expected to play a more significant role in supporting access to specialised care. Lifedot Medevac noted that structured training is essential to ensure patient transfers are conducted safely, efficiently, and under appropriate clinical oversight.
The programme is conducted in Kuala Lumpur on 22-23 July 2026 and adopts a case-based learning approach, providing participants with practical insight into how real-world air ambulance missions and medevac operations are assessed, planned, and executed.
