Vietnam Airlines will introduce nonstop flights between Hanoi and Ahmedabad on 3 November 2026, extending its presence in India to five destinations as travel between the two countries continues to grow.

The Vietnamese flag carrier plans to operate four return flights weekly using Airbus A321 aircraft, with services scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Ahmedabad will join Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad in the airline’s Indian network. The addition will bring Vietnam Airlines’ operations between the two countries to seven routes and 25 weekly return flights.

The new connection will provide direct access to Gujarat, one of India’s major industrial and commercial centres. Ahmedabad is an established business hub, making the route relevant to corporate travellers as well as passengers visiting Vietnam for leisure.

Growing Demand Between India and Vietnam

India has become an increasingly important source of international visitors to Vietnam.

According to figures released by Vietnam Airlines, more than 670,000 Indian visitors travelled to Vietnam during the first nine months of 2026, representing a 33% increase over the corresponding period in 2025.

India is currently Vietnam’s eighth-largest international visitor market.

Vietnamese destinations beyond Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have also attracted interest from Indian travellers, including the coastal destinations of Da Nang and Phu Quoc.

Passengers arriving in Hanoi from Ahmedabad will have access to onward connections through Vietnam Airlines’ domestic network.

A Wider International Network

The Ahmedabad announcement forms part of Vietnam Airlines’ broader international network development in 2026.

The carrier has introduced routes to Amsterdam, Colombo and Phuket while increasing frequencies to several established destinations, including Munich, Moscow, Taipei, Osaka, Tokyo and Seoul.

The airline’s continued international expansion comes amid growing demand for connections between Vietnam and overseas markets.

For Vietnam Airlines, the Ahmedabad service adds western India to its existing network coverage, complementing operations serving the country’s northern and southern regions.

The new route is scheduled to commence on 3 November 2026, subject to the airline’s published operating arrangements.
