SUBANG, SELANGOR, MALAYSIA — Aeromedical Asia 2027 is preparing to expand its Excellence Awards Programme to recognise individuals and organisations contributing to aeromedical medicine and critical-care transport.
The proposed awards will cover nine areas: aeromedical clinical excellence, flight nursing, innovation and digital technology, patient safety, training and education, ground ambulance services, medical equipment, medical coordination and lifetime achievement.
The expanded categories reflect the range of expertise involved in patient transport, from clinical assessment and in-flight care to equipment readiness and coordination between healthcare facilities and transport teams.
Flight nursing will receive dedicated recognition under the proposed programme. Nurses involved in aeromedical transport must combine clinical judgement with an understanding of aviation-related physiological considerations while maintaining continuity of care throughout a patient’s journey.
Recognition is also proposed for advances in medical technology, professional education and emergency transport coordination, reflecting their respective roles in supporting clinical practice and patient safety.
Sponsorship, commercial relationships, exhibition bookings or participation in Aeromedical Asia 2027 will not determine award eligibility, influence evaluations or guarantee recognition.
Professional merit will be central to the proposed awards framework. Assessment criteria are expected to consider demonstrable achievements, professional responsibility and contributions to patient care rather than organisational size or public prominence.
Final award categories, eligibility requirements and nomination procedures will be announced separately.
Aeromedical Asia 2027 is scheduled for 17–18 February 2027 in Subang, Selangor, Malaysia, bringing together professionals from aviation, emergency medicine, critical care and aeromedical transport.
The awards initiative is intended to acknowledge professional contributions and encourage the continued development of aeromedical services.
